FRANKLIN TWP — A pickup truck struck the rear of a nearly empty school bus on Route 59 after the truck’s brakes failed.
According to Trooper Robyn Parillo of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, authorities were notified of the incident at Rhodes Road and Route 59 around 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday. A Chevy Silverado pickup truck operated by a Ravenna woman was approaching a red light when the brakes on the vehicle failed, causing her to strike the bus.
Aside from the driver, only one adult passenger was on the school bus at the time of the crash. There were no children aboard. No one was injured or required transportation, Parillo said.
The crash took about one hour to resolve. Parillo said the right lane of Route 59 was closed during that time.
The driver of the Chevy was charged with operating an unsafe vehicle, Parillo said.
