Cañon City man dies in fatal motorcycle accident – Canon City Daily Record


A Cañon City man died Thursday after losing control of his motorcycle while traveling westerly on Colo. 115.

Bobby J. Hearne, 44, died from injuries sustained from the crash at about 9:20 p.m. Thursday at St. Thomas More Hospital.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, Hearne was traveling westerly on Colo. 115 at about 6:45 p.m. on his 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle when a vehicle was stopped in the roadway attempting to make a left turn on southbound Locust Avenue.

Hearne began braking to avoid colliding with the vehicle and rotated counter-clockwise while overturning onto its left side for about 31 feet. He then crossed over the center line and slid another 35 feet before colliding with the front right bumper of a 1999 Dodge pickup truck that was traveling easterly on Colo. 115.

The driver and the passenger in the pickup truck were not injured, according to the CSP report.

Neither speed, alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be contributing factors in the crash.
