Car thief driving a tow truck rips off vehicle’s bumper: Brooklyn Police Blotter

BROOKLYN, Ohio

Attempted car theft, Memphis Avenue: On June 4, a Memphis Avenue resident called police after someone for the second time in a week attempted to steal his car using a tow truck.

During the previous attempt the would-be car thief ripped off the vehicle’s bumper. There are no suspects. Police are investigating. 

Shoplifting, Biddulph Road: On June 7, a Giant Eagle employee observed a shopper stealing merchandise from the Biddulph Road grocery store.

Prior to arriving, the officer was told by dispatch the suspect was leaving the parking lot in a black Cadillac. However, the officer was unable to find the suspect.

The man did take $100 worth of items. Police are investigating. 

Shoplifting, Brookpark Road: On June 6, a Walmart employee observed a shopper stealing merchandise from the Brookpark Road store.

An arriving officer located the Cleveland woman, who was attempting to steal more than $163 worth of items. She was arrested for shoplifting. 

Drug abuse, Biddulph Road: On June 6, police were dispatched to Biddulph Road where a man, who had an active trespassing warrant, was seen outside of a store.

An arriving officer located the Brooklyn resident, who was arrested. Police later found six prescription pills, which he wasn’t prescribed.

The man was charged with drug abuse. 

Single bullet mystery, Ansonia Avenue: On June 6, an Ansonia Avenue resident found a single bullet in his driveway.

There are no suspects. Police are investigating. 

Theft, Brookpark Road: On June 5, a Walmart employee observed a shopper stealing merchandise.

An arriving officer located the Cleveland man, who was arrested for stealing $214 worth of items. During the arrest, the man said he couldn’t breathe.

He was cited for theft and transported to the hospital.
