A 35-year-old Milton man who was driving a pickup truck fled the scene of a three-vehicle crash early Monday morning on Interstate 10 in Santa Rosa County, according to authorities.
A pickup truck driven by the Milton man, a van driven by a 61-year-old man from Metairie, Louisiana, and a tractor-trailer driven by a 52-year-old Milton man were all westbound on I-10 in the outside lane of the Blackwater Bridge at about 2:20 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The van was in front of the pickup truck and the tractor-trailer was behind the pickup. The driver of the pickup truck failed to slow the vehicle as he approached the rear of the van. As a result, the front of the pickup struck the rear of the van. After impact, the pickup rotated clockwise and entered the inside lane.
The left side of the tractor-trailer struck the front of the pickup as it passed. After impact, the driver of the pickup fled the scene. The driver of the van suffered minor injuries.
