Authorities have identified the driver killed Saturday when a tree fell onto his pickup truck in Tewksbury as a 37-year-old Union County man.
Alfredo Pacheco Jr., of Berkeley Heights, was driving north on Route 517 just after 3 p.m. when the tree tumbled onto the vehicle, Tewksbury police said.
Emergency workers freed Pacheco but he died of his injuries, . There were no passengers in the pickup truck.
Police are investigating what caused the tree to fall.
