On the afternoon of Monday, July 13, a freightliner was struck by a pickup on Hwy. 169, near Wakidaaki Drive, resulting in injury for a 61-year-old driver from Mazeppa, Minn.
According to the incident report from Minnesota State Patrol, a 2018 freightliner truck, driven by Gary Wayne Benjamin, 58, of Isle, was crossing Hwy. 169 from west to east at Wakidaaki Drive in Onamia. The truck was struck by a northbound 1988 Chevrolet GM4 pick-up, driven by Toni Michael Levi, 61, of Mazeppa.
Levi was transported to Mille Lacs Health System with non-life threatening injuries. Benjamin was uninjured. Conditions were dry, both drivers were wearing seat belts, and no alcohol was believed to be involved.
