GILROY, CA — A Gilroy man who was forced to evacuate his home do to the SCU Lightning Complex fire had valuables stolen truck while staying at a hotel, ABC7 News reports.
Lewis Britton told the outlet he’d been forced to evacuate for a second time this summer. Last month the Crews fire came within a month of his home.
Britton was staying at the Best Western in Gilroy when burglars broke into his truck stealing the handyman’s valuable tools, according to the report.
“I lost pneumatic hammers, socket sets, basically what they could carry,” Britton told ABC7.
“That’s what really pisses me off. I can understand someone stealing a stereo, I can live without a stereo. But, when you start taking a man’s livelihood. First you’re displaced, then you’ve got all these extra costs that you’re not anticipating and then you get someone stealing the thing that you need to make back those costs. It’s to the point now where it’s hard to get upset.”
