Freightliner and Western Star truck dealer network Globocam inaugurated its 10th branch recently, its first facility outside Quebec.

The Cornwall, Ont., branch offers truck and parts sales and maintenance services for both brands under the Daimler banner.

This is part of Globocam’s development strategy along the St. Lawrence corridor. “We want to have as many service points as possible on our customers’ routes,” Maxime Boyer, president of Globocam, told sister publication Transportroutier.ca.

“Most of them acquire, grow and transport to Ontario, Western Canada and the United States. We want the Globocam network to be there when they need it and to have the same customer experience everywhere.”

Boyer wants this development to be gradual. “The goal is not necessarily to go to the Great Lakes, but to be able, for example, to meet needs, to move key people within a 200 km radius of Montreal.”

Thinking of alternative energy sources such as natural gas and electricity, Boyer said, “There are significant investments to be made. The second generation is in charge at Globocam and we have a new team. We are able to commit to long-term investments.”

Anticipating that electric trucks, like the Class 5 Rizon offered by Globocam, will take up more space in the market, he can see the establishment of a center of excellence for the preparation of electric trucks in Cornwall. The company has invested and will continue to invest in its Cornwall facilities, Boyer said.

“The building is only five years old and it sits on 20 acres of land, which gives us a lot of flexibility for expansions,” he added.
