Overall, the tone has been more aggressive than in recent days.Officers in riot gear lined up downtown around 5:20 p.m. when they were quickly met by a line of protesters.The officers backed up to a parking lot where they were face-to-face with a line of people. Watch in the player aboveAt West Jefferson and Ninth streets, protesters threw landscaping cinder blocks into the road and moving signs to block vehicles from getting through.One person threw a block at a WLKY vehicle’s windshield as our staff sat inside. We watched a truck drive clear through the grass with nowhere else to go.Around 6:10 p.m., multiple TARC buses were stuck behind each other, unable to get through where protesters had set up cones. They have since moved, it appears.Several people are just walking into the middle of intersections, but the crowds remain sparse. No big masses as we’ve seen some days.Around 7 p.m., LMPD said it was sending SWAT to where people are stuck in vehicles. Then, around 7:30 p.m., LMPD warned people should stay out of the area due to “aggressive” and “violent” behavior from some demonstrators.
