Make-A-Wish annual truck convoy to be held virtually on Aug. 16

The annual Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley, truck convoy was postponed from its traditional Mother’s Day event because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The popular convoy will be held virtually on Aug. 16 instead.

According to Make-A-Wish, the top 30 drivers and sponsors will leave from Manheim Pennsylvania Auto Auction at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 16.

The convoy will be broadcast live from the Make-A-Wish Facebook page for fans to watch at home. Facebook Live and additional video programming will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m.

Convoy barbecued chicken can be pre-ordered then picked up between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 16 in the BonTon parking lot of the Park City Mall.

Convoy apparel is for sale including aprons, bibs, hats, face masks, shirts and sweatshirts.

An auction will be held Aug. 9-16. According to Make-A-Wish the items you can bid on include a RoadPro Package; child’s Raleigh bike with helmet; camping package including a tent, four sleeping bags, two hammocks, two chairs and tables, cooler, tent light, lantern, first aid kit, and fishing gear; and a hand-decorated birdhouse done by wish kid, Ariel.

Virtual convoy games include bingo at 1 p.m. Aug. 9, a scavenger hut at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 and truck convoy bingo at 10 a.m. Aug. 16.

According to Make-A-Wish, money raised during the convoy supports more than “75 percent of the wishes granted each year. There are nearly 500 local children with critical illnesses waiting for their wishes to come true.”
