Fatal crashes in Collier and Lee counties climbed from 2018 to 2019. Here’s a look at the number of fatal crashes and fatalities from 2018-2019.
A pickup truck struck a pedestrian Friday night in Immokalee, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The pedestrian died.
FHP is investigating his identity. Troopers responded to the crash at 8:40 p.m.
The pedestrian was walking across State Road 29 when the front of the pickup truck hit him, according to an FHP news release.
A 41-year-old man, of Immokalee, was driving the pickup truck north on the state road, according to FHP, and a 39-year-old woman, also of Immokalee, was his passenger.
After hitting the pedestrian, the pickup truck came to final rest at the Capital Pawn Shop driveway at 330 New Market Road, the news release states.
The driver and passenger were uninjured, according to the news release. FHP did not name them. The agency cited Marsy’s Law, a constitutional amendment meant to broaden victims’ rights, as the reason.
