MANASQUAN – A thrift shop that served Manasquan for decades has shut its doors because of the impact of the coronavirus.
The VNACJ Thrift and Consignment Shop permanently shut down on July 21.
“The #COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically impacted the shop’s ability to reopen successfully,” the shop said on Facebook.
Proceeds from the sale of the store’s main building, a nearby building used to sell furniture and a truck will go to the VNA Health Group, according to The Asbury Park Press.
VNA Health Group has experienced “significant COVID-19 expenses and fundraising is critical”to its mission since it began serving the community in 1912.
“This decision was not made lightly,” the shop said. “Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our longstanding volunteers.”
“We want to thank each and every one of you for your generous support and loyalty over the years.”
