The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Midland Police Department. Compiled by reporter Mitchell Kukulka.
Friday, July 17
11:47 p.m. — A deputy was dispatched to a Lee Township area for a report of a suspicious man walking around homes and looking into windows. The deputy made contact with a 25-year-old man, who was having mental health issues. The 25-year-old’s mother was contacted, and she had a court-ordered mental health petition for him. The man was taken into protective custody and transported to the ER for treatment.
11:19 p.m. — Deputies located a stolen ATV out of Gratiot County at a Greendale Township residence. Gratiot County was contacted and responded to the residence to retrieve the ATV.
10:54 p.m. — Deputies responded to a car-deer crash in Mills Township.
7:27 p.m. — A deputy was dispatched to assist a city police officer with contacting a man involved in an assault in the City of Midland. The officer made contact with the individual and took him into custody without incident.
6:17 p.m. — Michigan State Police troopers responded to a vehicle crash in Jerome Township.
5:27 p.m. — Officers responded to a domestic assault in the 300 block of West Main Street.
3:45 p.m. — A deputy and the Breckenridge-Wheeler Fire Department were dispatched to South Eleven Mile Road about one half-mile south of West Redstone Road in Porter Township for a semi-truck with two trailers full of sand that ran into a ditch. The driver, a 37-year-old Shepherd man, was uninjured. He was cited for failure to maintain control of his vehicle. The road was closed for about five hours while a towing crew worked to get the truck and trailers out of a 12-foot ditch.
3:25 p.m. — A deputy was dispatched to the area of North Eastman Road near East Hubbard Road for the report of a three-vehicle hit-and-run crash.
3:01 p.m. — Officers responded to a vehicle crash in the area of Dilloway Drive and Siebert Street.
2:25 p.m. — Officers responded to a vehicle crash causing injuries in the area of East Patrick Road and Bayliss Street.
2:12 p.m. — Officers responded to a vehicle crash in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Joe Mann Boulevard.
1:40 p.m. — A deputy was dispatched to a Mount Haley Township residence to speak with a 31-year-old woman regarding her 44-year-old neighbor target shooting. The woman was crying and anxious, and she said she suffers from PTSD, and does not like the sound of the shooting. The deputy spoke with the 44-year-old, who had a proper backstop for his shooting, meaning there was no violation.
12:19 p.m. — An officer responded to a hit-and-run crash in the 4500 block of North Saginaw Road.
12:12 p.m. — A deputy responded to a two-vehicle crash where minor injuries were sustained in Larkin Township.
11:56 a.m. — Officers responded to a larceny in the 3200 block of Valley Drive.
10 a.m. — Officers responded to a retail fraud in the 6800 block of Eastman Avenue.
9:45 a.m. — Deputies responded to a car-deer crash in Greendale Township.
9:18 a.m. — A deputy spoke with a 49-year-old Jerome Township woman by telephone regarding a Craigslist fraud attempt. The woman said she sent $1,200 via a cash app on her phone to an unknown man in Colorado for the purchase of a dog. She said the seller kept emailing her and asking for more money before she realized it was a fraud. After she told the seller she wasn’t sending any more money, he became verbally abusive.
9:08 a.m. — A deputy was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at a gas station in Lincoln Township.
8:34 a.m. — Deputies responded to a car-deer crash in Homer Township.
5:25 a.m. — Officers responded to a domestic assault in the 700 block of Fournie Street.
3:13 a.m. — Officers responded to an intoxicated driver in the area of South Saginaw Road and Eastman Avenue.
