Police have urged for caution in the wake of a tragic incident that claimed the life of a Trangie teenager on Wednesday. Emergency services responded to a call at around 2.50pm on Dandaloo street and attended a crash between a truck and a motorcycle. Orana Mid-West District Acting Inspector of Police Ken Brisbane said that the thirteen-year-old rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead upon arrival at the scene. READ ALSO: “A crime scene was then established, police from the Orana Mid-Western police district are investigating the matter and a full report will be prepared for the coroner,” Insp. Brisbane said. The young man who was killed in the crash was a Trangie local, while the driver of the truck was local to the region, but did not reside in Trangie. “The matter is still being investigated, the driver of the truck was uninjured and is assisting police with their inquiries,” Insp. Brisbane said. “At this time, investigations are continuing and as the matter is being prepared for the coroner, I can’t comment too much further in relation to the cause of the incident.” Insp. Brisbane said an incident of this kind is always ‘far reaching’ in it’s impacts on the local community. “It does hit very hard, an incident like this will be far reaching in the community, not only with the family that are involved, but also the responders that attend situations like these, the fireman and police offers and such are all part of that community and they all feel the tragedy of that situation,” Insp. Brisbane said. He went on to say that awareness and caution were paramount for drivers as people return to the roads following the easing of lockdown and restrictive measures that prevent travel. “Awareness of the road and the road rules, if people pay attention to their ongoing surroundings and the dangers that are present, matters like these can be alleviated,” Insp. Brisbane said. “With the increase in traffic, we’re encouraging people to comply with the road rules and stick to the speed limit.”
