The Yobe Savings One Million Lives Programme for Result (SOML PforR)on Thursday donated 5000 litre capacity automated sewage truck worth N35 million naira to Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH)
The State Programme Manager, Dr Babagana Abba, said the donation was aimed at improving the sanitary condition of the hospital.
He noted that the Savings one Million Lives Programme has been partnering with the state government towards improving the maternal and child health and health infrastructure across the state.
While handing over the sewage truck to the CMD of Yobe Teaching Hospital, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Muhammad Lawan Gana, said achieving universal health care was one of the priorities of the current administration.
He said the vehicle would assist the hospital in achieving qualitative hygiene in its environs.
In his remarks, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr Babagana Waru Goni, explained that the importance of waste evacuation in the hospital is necessary taking into account the volume of patients attending to the hospital on a daily basis.
Goni said the donation of the sewage disposal truck by SOML-PforR, would go a long way in reducing the financial burden on the hospital.
