OPP LAYS THEFT FROM VEHICLE CHARGE
(BLIND RIVER, ON)- On August 28, 2020, shortly after 12:45 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft where a cell phone was stolen from a vehicle on Murray Street in the Town of Blind River.
Approximately an hour later police located the person on Hawkins Street and an ar rest was made for this event. On August 21, 2020, at approximately 11:44 a.m., a theft occurred on Michigan Avenue, where this same person broke into a pick-up truck and stole a wallet, key fob, and fillets knives.
As a result of these investigations, Lee Carl MARTIN, was charged with: Two Counts of Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code.
The accused was release on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on November 5, 2020.
The OPP are asking vehicle owners to lock their vehicles to decrease the risk of being victimized. Please report any suspicious activity to police at 1-888-310-1122.
THREATS UTTERED THREE ARRESTED
(SPANISH, ON)- On August 29, 2020, shortly after 7 :30 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a local convenience store in the Town of Spanish.
Investigation determined, the complainant was in the convenience store when an unknown person walked in without wearing a mask and no shoes and had spoken up about up about this. The unknown person became angry and kicked the complainant’s vehicle uttering threats and made it known that he had a firearm.
Shortly after 9:45 p.m., police located the vehicle at a campsite on Beckerton Shooting Range Road and arrested three individuals.
As result of the investigation, Brenden OREND, age 23, from Kitchener, was charged with:
- Uttering Threats-Cause Death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and with
- Mischief Under $5000, cont rary to section 430(4) of the CC.
Gordon BROWN-STEWART, age 27, from Kitchener was charged with: Breach of Firearms Regulation-Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon, contrary to section 86(2) of the Criminal Code.
Dustin MCMASTER, age 20, from Spanish, was charged with: Breach of Firearms Regulation-Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon, contrary to section 86(2) of the Criminal Code.
All three accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on October 1, 2020.
