Racing NSW loosens restrictions on racehorse movement from Victoria

Racing NSW has eased restrictions on the movement of racehorses from Victoria to NSW, but horses from the greater Melbourne area are still banned from crossing the border.

After advice from a biosecurity expert following a reduction in daily COVID-19 cases in Victoria, Racing NSW started phase one of allowing horses back into the state.

Racing NSW chief steward Marc Van Gestel.

While the Melbourne Greater Metropolitan area remains under stage-four lockdown, horses from the area will not be able to come to NSW. Other Victorian horses can head north, subject to the Racing NSW policy on horse transportation. Connections have to make an application to NSW stewards prior to transportation and make a declaration on arrival in the state.
