Rider suffers serious injuries when lawnmower is hit by pickup, cops say

An elderly man riding a lawnmower suffered serious injuries in a collision with a pickup truck Saturday in Warren County, according to police.

It occurred about 10:50 a.m. on Allen Road, about 150 feet north of Winchester Avenue, in Mansfield Township.

The man was riding the John Deere across the road, pulling a small trailer, when he was hit by the Chevrolet pickup, township police Sgt. Patrick Kirchner said.

The rider was taken by Mansfield Rescue Squad to Morristown Medical Center. The pickup driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, and was uninjured. Police did not immediately release the names of those involved.

The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Collision Accident Reconstruction Team responded to assist in the investigation, which was continuing, Kirchner said.
