The second Virtual Food Truck Night is Friday, April 17 with as many as eight or nine trucks serving curbside takeout around R.I.

The food isn’t virtual, it’s real. It requires you get out of your pajamas and pick up curbside takeout.

The truck locations will be online. You pick the one, or two, that tickles your taste buds. Preorder, prepay and pick up.

“Each truck will have an online menu, and we will share the links to order from each truck,” said Weiner.

Then you go home, log onto Facebook and eat your dinner while streaming some live local music.

Consumers can also do some good when they order their dinner. Each truck’s menu will have a $5 item called the Healthcare First Responder Meal.

“We are collecting the contributions in $5 increments, but anyone can add to the bank of money for the first responder’s meal in any increment they like,” Weiner said.

For every $200 in sales collected, the food businesses will offer 20 or more free meals.

Once each truck has meals available, any first responder can claim a meal simply by reviewing the menu online, texting the truck an order and picking up the order with proof of ID.
