Teen killed in head-on collision in Anderson County, coroner says

A teen was killed in head-on collision in Anderson County Monday afternoon, according to Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore.The accident happened around 1:35 p.m. on Shirley Store Road at the intersection of Highway 76, according to Master Trooper David Jones, with the South Carolina Highway PatrolAccording to Jones, an SUV traveling east on U.S. 76 was attempting to make a right turn when it hit a pick up truck head-on.The driver of the SUV was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, Jones said.The coroner has identified the victim as Jon Griffin Peters, 17, of Seneca.The driver of the pickup truck and the passenger in Peters SUV were taken to AnMed Health Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Shore said.

According to Jones, an SUV traveling east on U.S. 76 was attempting to make a right turn when it hit a pick up truck head-on.
