Free covid-19 testing available at New Kensington clinic

The New Kensington Community Health Care Clinic will begin to offer free walk-up/drive-up covid-19 testing beginning Tuesday at the clinic, 743 Fourth Ave.

No prescription is required and people with and without symptoms can be tested. Results will be available in two to three days.

People with insurance must provide insurance information but will not have any copay. There is no charge those without insurance.

Armstrong County Historical Museum to reopen for tours

The Armstrong County Historical Museum, 300 N. McKean St., Kittanning, will reopen for tours beginning Thursday.

Admission is free. Hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays through Oct. 29. Other hours are available by appointment.

Free parking is available. Covid-19 safety guidelines will be observed.

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank open Wednesday

The Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open to anyone in need from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Food will be bagged in advance and placed into vehicles.


Help available from HOPE Center hotline

If social distancing has forced you into an unsafe situation, help is available by calling the Alle-Kiski HOPE Center 24-hour hotline at 724-224-1266.

The hotline provides information about domestic violence, community resources, safety planning, support and more.


Food Truck event planned Wednesday in Apollo

The Wheel Good Wednesday food truck event sponsored by the Apollo Events Committee and Apollo Area Historical Society will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the old Stanford lot on Clifford Avenue.

This week’s lineup includes Main Squeeze Juice and Vagabond Taco Truck from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Frank’s Red Rocket, Speal’s On Wheels, Billu’s Indian Grill on Wheels, Tommy’s Catering and Kona Ice from 4 to 8 p.m.

Leechburg High School Class of 1953 Reunion planned in June is canceled.

Leechburg High School Class of 1960 Reunion planned for August is postponed until Aug. 7, 2021.
