PEMBROKE – Three people were injured, one seriously, when a box truck slammed into a utility truck at routes 5 and 77 early Monday morning, Genesee County sheriff’s deputies said.
Kimaly Satchel-el, 33, of Syracuse was driving a 2011 Freightliner box truck south on Route 77 about 3:40 a.m. when he failed to stop at the intersection and hit a 2014 Freightliner utility truck.
Satchel-el’s truck spun off the road, coming to a stop on the north shoulder.
Satchel-el had to be freed from the truck by members of Pembroke, Indian Falls and East Pembroke fire departments.
He sustained multiple injuries and was taken by Mercy EMS to Erie County Medical Center. A passenger, Candace R. Keith, 21, of Brooklyn also was taken to ECMC with less severe injuries.
The driver of the utility truck, Luis H. Welch, 32, of Le Roy, was taken to United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia where he was treated for minor injuries.
The road was closed for about three hours. Charges are pending.
