UTA announces update to virtual convention plans

The Used Truck Association (UTA) board of directors Thursday provided an update on its 21st annual convention, which will be held virtually in November due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“The health and well-being of our members is paramount,” says UTA President Craig Kendall. “By transitioning to a virtual convention, UTA members will be able to enjoy many of the convention’s best features from the safety and comfort of their business or home offices.”

While the agenda is still being finalized, UTA says there is no doubt the agenda will be an active one. A used truck market and valuation update with Steve Tam, Chris Visser, and Josh Giles is planned. Chris Kuel, of Armada Corporate Intelligence, will present the economic keynote. There will also be a timely workshop on Digital Selling in Uncertain Times.

As always, the Dealer Group’s Individual Member Awards will be announced, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award. UTA says there also will be a Vendor Expo. In short, the learning opportunities, information sharing, and inspiration that UTA Convention attendees have always enjoyed will also be part of this convention, the association says.

The virtual convention also allows for some new learning and networking experiences. For example, special “rooms” or chat areas will be set up for different groups like UTA’s Young Members Committee and the Dealer Group. And the UTA will still provide plenty of time for unique networking events.

“Undoubtedly, a virtual convention is a different experience,” says UTA’s Convention Committee Chair Terry Williams. “But one thing will be the same: UTA members will once again ‘come together’ as a family to prepare for the business year that lies ahead and support one another as they always have.”

UTA’s Annual Convention will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.. ET, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020. The UTA looks forward to sharing more details about the upcoming convention as further details are finalized.
